Did you know there are numerous business incubators and accelerators throughout New Mexico that can help you start or grow your small business? A list of most of the incubators and acceleration programs with links to their websites are provided below. Some of the incubators are mixed-use, such as WESST and SFBI, assisting a range of early stage companies. Others are more industry specific, like The BioScience Center, which concentrates on startups in life sciences and biotech.
Business incubation works! Business incubators reduce the risk of small business failures. Historically, NBIA (National Business Incubation Association) member incubators have reported that 87 percent of all firms that have graduated from their incubators are still in business. Business incubators can also help to reduce start-up costs by 40-50%.
Business incubators meet a variety of needs, such as fostering commercialization of university and federal laboratory technologies, increasing employment in economically distressed communities, and serving as an investment vehicle.
Many of the incubators in NM collaborate as NMBIG (the New Mexico Business Incubation Group) and we work together to bring our community of experts and services to you. We do not believe in competing to bring startups to our centers, but collaborate to find the best incubator to meet your needs.
If you are thinking about starting a new business, consider doing it in one of New Mexico’s incubators. If you’re ready to expand your business to the next level, research the services offered by one of our acceleration programs.
